Installation of WPC siding and panels

Polymer&Wood siding and facing panels are decorative facing material and cannot be used as load-bearing structures. Make a drawing before installation of siding: it will help you to calculate the consumption of materials accurately and to avoid mistakes when cutting and assembling. It is not recommended to install siding at the temperature below zero. Before installation, allow the siding (facing panels) time to adapt to the environment (up to 24 hours) by means of putting it on the dry surface close to the place of installation. Carefully check each board before installation. The warranty does not cover siding damaged prior to installation.

Preparing of a base for facing of facade with siding

  1. Fasten all loose boards or wooden panels on the walls with nails tightly. Replace all rotten panels;

  2. Remove loose plaster around windows and doors;

  3. Remove downpipes, lights fixtures and moldings from those parts of the building where they may interfere with the installation of siding (panels);

  4. Remove all vines and tree branches touching the wall – this will provide more space for siding installation;

  5. If possible, remove all protruding windowsills.

Installation of boarding

In order to avoid a “wave” effect, you shall install boarding on the walls. For siding, it is recommended to make boarding of WPC joists with a section of 30×40 mm. For horizontal fastening of the siding, the bars (WPC joists) shall be installed vertically at a distance of 30-40 cm from each other. In addition, they shall be installed around windows, doors and other openings, at all corners and on the bottom and on the top of the siding installation area.

A wall with boarding may be covered with insulation. The space between the bars can be filled with insulation with a thickness equal to the thickness of bars, which will allow creating smooth surface of the wall and preventing emergence of a “wave” effect. Lay waterproofing material above insulation.

Installation of siding and panels

When installing the panels, consider tolerances for tensile and compression. The siding shall be attached in such a way as not to interfere with the possible tensile and compression. Leave a gap of 5-6 mm for possible expansion when fastening the panels to bevels and edges. Do not attach siding too tightly! Leave a distance of approximately 1-1.5 mm between the upper edge of the self-tapping screw pressure plate and the siding bevel. It is necessary for free tensile and compression. This will also prevent a “wave” effect.

Before mounting, holes with a diameter larger than the diameter of the screws shall be drilled in the siding panels. Installation of siding shall be performed from the bottom upwards. Siding shall be fastened with self-tapping screws with pressure plates (the length shall be equal to 25 mm). Drive the screw straightforward! Tightening of a self-tapping screw at any angle distorts the panel and can cause swelling of the siding. Do not drive the self-tapping screw in the front side of the facing panel: this will damage the siding.
